Life Isn’t a Competition

Life Isn’t a Competition
You will meet many people who will try to outdo you, in school, in college, at work. They’ll try to have nicer cars, bigger houses, nicer clothes, cooler gadgets. To them, life is a competition — they have to do better than their peers to be happy.

Here’s a secret: life isn’t a competition. It’s a journey. If you spend that journey always trying to impress others, to outdo others, you’re wasting your journey. Instead, learn to enjoy the journey. Make it a journey of happiness, of constant learning, of continual improvement, of love.

Don’t worry about having a nicer car or house or anything material, or even a better-paying job. None of that matters a whit, and none of it will make you happier. You’ll acquire these things and then only want more. Instead, learn to be satisfied with having enough — and then use the time you would have wasted trying to earn money to buy those things … use that time doing things you love.

than 3 months time..

Time really flies... In less than 3 mths time, I will get to meet my baby boy. I know I have to treasure the last 3 mths of my freedom. However nowadays I'm starting to feel tired easily. No longer do I have a good nite sleep due to the feeling of the strain on my back. Usually I will have difficulty during the first 1 - 2 hrs of sleep, sourcing for a good position to sleep tight. Sleeping for me is no longer the same as pre-pregrant stage. No longer can I sleep right through the nite. I guess this are part and parcel of mother's nature to prepare us to wake up in the nite for hourly feeds when baby arrives. I can't walk the mall for long without feeling the strain on my feet too. Think these are all due to the extra weight that I'm now carrying.

Just went for the OB scan recently. It was a superrrrrrrrrrrr long weight. But I think the wait is worth it for we are all eager to see how baby is doing. He is now 1.2kg at 29wks old. During the scan, he's quite active and can see he is having the expression as though he is crying, kicking his legs and moving his arms etc.

We are suppose to watch SpiderMan III on May day. But I was not feeling well that day and had to forfeit the ticket which we had pre-booked. Needless to say, KW was verrrrrryyyyyyyyyyy disappointed. Never mind will make up to him another time :o)

More Toys and Clothes for little Prince

Store was having 20% storewide discount over the weekend. As a mummy-to-be, of cos I can't resist the temptation and end up buying more stuff for my precious little one.
Below gives you a peek of what I have bought so far. Not all are chosen by me. At least for the toys, most of it are chosen by Daddy Azka. More or less we have got all the necessary items (feeding, bedding, batheing) for little prince. We are now waiting for the warerobe and baby cot to be delivered and set up waiting for baby's grand arrival.

Kick More

I had trouble getting to sleep last nite cos the little one is kicking me non-stop after his nightly milk drinking session via mummy. Could feel his tiny little kicks (seems like little motions of jerks) and small pushes in all directions (left, right , centre, upper and lower parts of my stomach) ..... No matter how i change my sleeping position just could not make baby boy happy. Guess he misses his daddy's voice last nite cos daddy is sick and didn't had the mood to tell him bed-time stories :o)

Hope daddy is well today to tell our little prince stories.

As I'm typing this blog, baby boy is kicking me again. Nowadays his kicks are more obvious and carries more strength. Sometimes even my tummy jerks a little by his kicking. Nevertheless he's now approching 28wks in my tummy. Be good baby boy and stay in your comfy "bed" for the next 3mths or so.

Shopping Spree Begins

was having bb fair over the weekend. Like all new parents-to-be, we made a trip down to the fair to see if there's any good bargains ... It was very crowded and made shopping difficult (hardly any walk-way to move around). Nevertheless, we manage to buy some items like rubber mat, milk bottles, pacifiers, baby wipes, Pigeon sterilizer, Avent breast pump and tongs.

I chose the Avent ISIS iQ UNO breast pump because it comes with
features like gentle natural action of soft petal massage cushion to stimulate fast milk flow 100% reliable suction, its able to mimics the mother's pumping rhythm and the convenience of battery or mains powered. Most important of all, the package comes with 1 - 125ml/4oz and 1-260ml/9oz breast milk storage container, 1 extra soft anti-colic teat, battery pack and mains power lead.

Here is a MIM sarong sling which I have bought due to the various advantages as advertised in the web-site. It provides bb with better security and close bonding for mother and child.

first belly drumming

Yup !!! Its the feeling of baby's first kick

I was lying down, taking a rest after a hearty breakfast when suddenly I feel some movements in my tummy. It goes like "pee-pop" "pee-pop" consecutively for 3 or 4 times. The first thought that came into my mind was "Hey, baby is kicking". Without much delay, I got KW to feel it and he too felt the kicking momentum.
Cheers ^_^

Prince or Princess

It has been a fruitful trip to the Dr for the last visit, for we get to know the first time the gender of our baby. Its a BOY !!!! Could see the little boy's tiny little organ very clearly. More or less its quite confirmed the gender is 90% correct but need to be 100% sure after the OB scan in November.

Am glad every time is fine for our little prince so far.

The Journey

The past few weeks had been a roller coaster time for me. It marks the actual begining towards actual motherhood. My vomitting became pretty bad throughout.
I have also lost part of my strength in window shopping as the nauseous feeling was really bad and most of the time having stayed out for 1 hr+, I had to say bye-bye to my favourite shopping malls...

As a result I had to stay at mom house for the time-being so that  could take care of my daily meals. I'm practically "hugging" the toilet bowl after each meal. Nothing could help to satisify the nauseous feeling except a warm cup of milo drink. Whatever I have eaten usually went to the bowl. Not to be surprised, I lost weight as a result. Hope all these will not last throughout my pregancy.

Surprise !!

"A long waited journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step ......"
It was a mixed feeling but still we made our first visit for the OB scan on May 09.
Dr A ensured that the sac is residing at the correct position and not anywhere where its not supposed to be. Our little one is only 5 wks old, measuring about 16 mm. As you can see from the first picture below, the size of the sac is equivalent to a tiny bean.
The second scan is done on June 09. In my case, 1 test and 2 ultrasound scan confirmed our little one's heartbeat is blinking continously on the small screen of the scanning machine .... a journey towards parentshood. Little one is now 28mm.

We felt a great sign of relief on the blinking tiny little dot and hope it could last throughout.... This was the only thought that occupies our mind for the next few weeks or so.
